Despite their initial popularity, these minor transient documents of everyday life are now part of an under-appreciated discourse of ephemera. Fructus Decalcomania revolves around the study of fruit stickers through a series of physical and digital explorations. It looks to reflect and question the role and qualities of fruit stickers as curious objects, dynamic communication mediums and print ephemera. They have it all; art, typography, and personality. Yet, they are often overlooked and under-appreciated.&nbsp; What are fruit stickers?&nbsp;How do consumers analyse their visual signs, symbols, and design elements (e.g. logo and typography) through the social practice of meaning-making? How do fruit stickers bridge brands and consumers together despite language and social barriers? Besides furthering sticker-related research, the purpose of this compendium is to investigate the role, aesthetics, and visual culture of fruit stickers as unique and dynamic communication mediums from the point of view of a designer, consumer, and collector.
